Information Regarding Applications
An Academic Scholarship is a financial bursary awarded by the College to a student who is achieving significantly high and consistent results in their studies. To determine each individual student academic level, applicants will sit an examination which will provide data to the College, along with current school reports, as to the suitability of individuals to be offered an Academic Scholarship. The bursary is given to the student in the form of a discount on their annual tuition fees.
Academic Scholarships are available for students entering Years 7, 9 or 11 for a period of two academic years. Academic Scholarships are open to all students, including those students already attending Prince of Peace Lutheran College and those not currently enrolled at the College, but wishing to be.
The scholarships are awarded based on a competitive examination conducted by Prince of Peace Lutheran College in conjunction with Edutest. Students should be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement in all major curriculum areas including English, Mathematics, Science and the Humanities. They should also possess a high level of all round ability.
Students short-listed for a scholarship after the initial Edutest Academic Examination will have an interview with a member of the College Executive team if deemed necessary.
The College may take a family’s financial situation into account and parents in this situation should flag this on the initial Application Form to the College. No 100% scholarships are given. Scholarship provide a reduction of the annual tuition fees and offer remission on these fees for a period of up to two (2) years, provided the student adheres to the Academic Scholarship conditions.
All scholarships are reviewed annually and the continuation of an award is dependent on the scholarship holder’s performance, academic effort, behaviour, participation and current or likely contribution to the overall life of the College as outlined in the scholarship contract. All Academic Scholarships will typically be awarded to students entering Years 7, 9 and 11, and will be valid for a maximum of two (2) years. Students who receive an Academic Scholarship in Year 7 or Year 9 will be eligible to re-apply in Year 9 or 11.
