Monte in Year 4 competed at the 2020 Queensland Youth Week Regatta on 11-12 July, taking out first place overall (out 12 competitors); he was also awarded the Sportsmanship Award for weekend. Smooth sailing Monte, what an achievement!

The racing across all fleets this weekend was fantastic to watch. Congratulations to all sailors for embracing the challenges regattas bring after such a long time off. After the initial excitement when the breeze filled in we were left with light, shifty conditions and “decision heavy” racing. Positive and constructive self-talk is a huge key to successful decision making, but just like tacking or gybing, it is a skill to be learned.
